Thanksgiving is all about family, fun, and fantastic food – but let’s be real, it can also get a little hectic!
If you’re hosting, don’t worry, Chef Lola’s here with some tips and tricks to keep things running smoothly, so you can spend more time enjoying the day (and a little less time stressing in the kitchen).
Top 3 Tips Every Family Should Know
Thanksgiving is about spending time together, and not getting into a yelling match in the kitchen. So first up: don’t overcomplicate things! Here’s how to set yourself up for success.
1. Stick with What You Know
Look, we all want to impress our family and friends with the meal, but Thanksgiving isn’t the time to go all experimental. Pick dishes you know well and feel comfortable making. There’s no need to suddenly become a souffle master if that’s not your usual vibe. Stick to the classics and recipes you’ve made before – trust me, your nerves (and your guests) will thank you!
2. Prep Ahead Like a Pro
Getting ready early is the real secret to a smooth Thanksgiving. Make a prep plan for each dish, and start with anything that can be done in advance. Side dishes like mac and cheese, stuffing, green bean casserole, and even desserts can all be made a day or two before. Pop them in the fridge, and on Thanksgiving day, just reheat! No last-minute juggling, just a relaxed, organized kitchen.
3. Know Your Guests (and Their Needs)
Okay, so who’s coming to dinner? Are there any allergies or dietary restrictions you should keep in mind? Knowing what each guest can (or can’t) eat helps you keep everyone happy without any last-minute surprises. Plus, planning for leftovers is essential! If you want extras or plan to send people home with plates, be sure to make enough – and maybe even stock up on some containers for easy takeaway.
