What’s For Dinner?: The Summit
At One Potato, we’re always on the lookout for resources that make family life easier, healthier, and a little more joyful. And when it comes to the nightly “what’s for dinner?” scramble, we’re big fans of Brett DuPree and the Freaking Delish community. We interviewed Brett this week (if you missed it, go back and read her Order Up! interview), and there’s one more thing of hers we wanted to put in front of you: the free summit she hosts every August, built entirely around making weeknight dinner easier.
What’s for Dinner?: The Summit is a free 3-day virtual event running August 17–19. Three days, 25+ food experts, and real, practical dinner help built around rhythm instead of rigid systems. This year’s theme is “a better rhythm for weeknight dinners”, which is exactly the sort of thing that’s hard to figure out solo at 5pm on a Tuesday. Summit experts include some One Potato friends you’ll recognize, including Katie Kimball of Raising Healthy Families and Jessica Lawson of Big Delicious Life!
Why We Love Freaking Delish — and Why You’ll Love What’s for Dinner?: The Summit
Brett started Freaking Delish to build a dinner rhythm where everyone cooks and everyone gets cooked for, moms included. Her readers loved how her recipes and routines made weeknight dinner feel doable, and she wanted to give them an easy way to tap into all the systems her fellow food bloggers use, too. That’s how the summit was born.
Now in its third year, it has already welcomed over 5,000 families in a single event. Every August, families tune in for three free days of sessions on everything from budget-friendly dinners and freezer prep to picky eaters, meal-planning burnout, and building a dinner rhythm that survives an actual busy week. And yes, there are prizes: this year’s BINGO game includes prizes from Souper Cubes, Plan to Eat, ThermoWorks, and Hey Grill Hey, plus a bonus tier from the speakers themselves.
For anyone worried about another few hours glued to a screen (we get it), each session is short and built to be practical. You can watch in the real pockets of a day, between school pickup and bedtime, and every session stays up online for 24 hours so you’re never stuck watching live. Even better, each speaker is live in the chat for the first 30 minutes their session airs, so if you have a real question about your kid’s picky-eating phase or your specific grocery budget, you can actually ask it and get an answer.
One of our favorite things is the timing. The summit lands right as back-to-school hits, right when the loose rhythm of summer gets swapped for early alarms, packed schedules, and dinner needing to happen faster than anyone has energy for. Instead of scrambling to sort that out solo in week one, you walk into the school year with 25+ new ideas already in your back pocket.
And the best part? All three days are completely free, with the option to upgrade to the All Access Pass if you want to keep everything past the 24-hour window. That upgrade adds $600+ in bonuses from the speakers, a printable souvenir recipe cookbook, and a free trial month of Brett’s Supper Club membership. When you register, you’ll get the full schedule and a BINGO card you can start playing the moment sessions go live.
A better rhythm for weeknight dinner is worth three free days in August. Here’s to making dinner easier, one night at a time.
