Have fun with toppings - here’s some yummy combos:
Add some protein: turkey pepperoni or crumbled tofu (marinated in your chia seed pesto)
You can also use plant-based sausage and pepperoni.
Sliced mushrooms, sliced red onion, thinly sliced red bell peppers, and broccoli - for vegetarians and veggie lovers
Add some black olives to your veggie or meat pizza
Got leftovers? You can use your pulled pork from the freezer as a pizza topping! Or even your Latin BBQ Chicken or jackfruit as a topping.
Meal Prep & Time Savers
We’ve written this recipe using store-bought pizza dough. It’s easy to find high quality, pre-made pizza dough at any grocery store. Basic pizza dough has only three ingredients - flour, water, and yeast.
Make a batch of our One Potato easy pizza sauce in advance so that you can have family pizza night any time. You can freeze in smaller batches to keep for up to 4 months.
We love to keep homemade Lemon Vinaigrette or Red Wine Vinaigrette on hand, so that it’s easy to add homemade healthy salad dressing to any dinner.
Make naan-bread pizzas - you don’t even need to bother with pizza dough, and can assemble and bake your pizzas even more quickly. You can even use store-bought frozen naan. Just be sure to pre-heat your naan, flipping to heat evenly, before topping with cheese and other toppings. Depending on your hungry kid's appetite, you can have one piece of naan bread per person.
Invest in a pizza stone for your oven and grill - evenly cook your pizza dough and other breads.
Grill your pizza - Have you ever tried the summer grill hack for pizza? Keep your kitchen cool and create your pizza on a grill. We’ve included instructions at the end of this recipe.
Freeze your homemade pizza!
Did you know that, just like buying frozen pizza from the grocery store, homemade pizzas can be frozen for up to three months? If wrapped properly, they’ll retain their flavor and texture. Here are some pro tips for freezing homemade pizzas:
Par-bake the crust: This can help the pizza keep its shape while frozen and speed the time to cook when you are ready.
Double wrap: Wrap the pizza in plastic wrap, then aluminum foil to protect it from freezer burn and drying out.
Freeze flat: You can freeze the pizza flat in a Ziploc bag or on a cookie sheet.
